Sudoku Game: The History

The word Sudoku means "single number" in Japanese. This name is a registered trademark of a Japanese company - Nikoli Co. Ltd in Japan, as Tetris is in North America and Europe. The game is not a math quiz - it's a logic puzzle where your brain is trained in the ability to see similar and avoid it.

Sudoku is recommended by some teachers as an exercise in logical reasoning for people of all ages as the sudoku puzzle difficulty can be very easily adjusted to feet anyone.

The prototype of modern sudoku game was the puzzle Number Place created by Howard Garns in late 70s. It was then published in newspapers, and nowadays we can also find sudoku puzzles in many mainstream periodicals like New York Post, USA Today, etc. Even TV channels are using sudoku puzzle now in various ways. For example, the world's first live TV Sudoku show was introduced on 1 July 2005 by Sky One.
